As for the story..
The story takes place in a village in Tamil Nadu in the 1970s-80s. In that village, a government master Perumal alias Kariappan (Vijaya Sethupathi) teaches everyone and brings awareness among everyone. In this process, the village zamindar.. if anyone in that village gets married.. he enjoys the bride on the first day. In this process, a boy living in this village forms a gang and kills the village zamindar. In this process, the son of the village zamindar tortures and kills those involved in the murder. However, Perumal saves the boy who actually killed him. In this process, he plans to bring the boy who killed the village zamindar to the police and present him in court. When the zamindar learns about this from the police, he and his private army kill him. In this process, Perumal is seriously injured. Then a communist leader named KR saves him. Then he becomes attracted to communist ideology and becomes a member of the force. In this sequence, KR is brutally killed by the Petthamdars in that village. After that, Perumal hunts down the Petthamdars and the landlords who killed their teacher and kills them. In this sequence, the police arrest Perumal, holding him responsible for a train accident. What did the police do to him after that? To know the role of Constable Kumarasan in this sequence, you have to watch it on screen.
story and technical aspects..
For the past few years, directors from southern languages, including Telugu, have been making films in the 1970s-80s. In this sequence, he brought the conflict between the police and the Naxals in the 70s and 80s to the screen. He brought back the faded Naxalism backdrop. Many such films have been made in Telugu and other languages. This movement started in Naxal Bari village of West Bengal under the leadership of Charu Majumdar, especially against the aristocrats and landlords. The Naxal movement, which initially worked for the oppressed people, gradually lost its way. Later, it became a puppet of foreigners, especially China, and transformed into the CPI Maoist. In this too, he showed the events that happened in the 80s on the screen, such as the hero and the oppressed classes being crushed by the village leaders. In the current society where the upper caste dominance has ended and a society of equals has been established, it is not clear what Vetrimaaran wanted to say with such stories. But we should appreciate the impact of the zamindari and pettandari system on the police and Naxals. He showed the police system being crushed by the pressure of the higher authorities. On the other hand, he also mentioned the love story of the Naxals. On the other hand, this film is a bit embarrassing for Tamil Nativity. Overall, it must be said that it has been made without universal appeal. Especially from the director’s perspective, it seems that Release 2 has targeted a certain section of the audience rather than all sections. He has shown that ideology in this film as a whole.
Especially, he delicately created elements like capturing a Naxal leader, taking him to jail and turning him into a court martial. In this sequence, the Naxal leader writes his biography and tells the government officials that the coming generations will be attracted towards the force. Especially, he showed the relationship between the police, Naxals, the government and the ruling system. The cinematography.. The way the picture was made in the forest is good. Especially the scenes like the encounter between the Naxals and the police in the forest are good. It would have been better if the editor had put more words to his scissors.
