Deepa Lal wins Manappuram Mrs South India


Deepa Lal from Kerala has won the Manappuram Mrs South India 2020 title. Candida Andrade Halgekar from Karnataka has been awarded the first runner up title of the Mrs South India, and Dr Bhavna Rao from Tamil Nadu the second runner up title.
Chandralekha Nath has been crowned as the Manappuram Miss Queen Kerala. Swetha Jayaram has won the first runner up title of the Miss Queen Kerala, and Reema Nair the second runner up title.
The third edition of Manappuram Mrs South India and the eighth edition of Manappuram Miss Queen Kerala have been successfully conducted simultaneously at SAJ Earth Resorts, Kochi, Kerala, on 30th September.
This is the first time a beauty event has been organised in the country since the Covid-19 lockdown. Moreover, this is the first time the possibility of the virtual mode has been fully explored.
The winners of the Miss Queen Kerala have been crowned by Pegasus Global MD Mrs. Jebitha Ajit & the winners of Mrs South India 2020 have been crowned by the founder of SCAAS, Mrs Shiney Justine.
At least eight women from the four South Indian states, such as Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana, have participated in the Mrs South India, and more than ten beauties from Kerala in the Miss Queen Kerala.
The franchisee holder of this year’s Mrs South India contest is Shiny Justine, who is the founder of SCAAS.
The contestants from outside the state of Kerala, who were selected to participate in the Mrs South Indian contest, have participated in the event virtually through the digital platform, which has been arranged by the organiser.
In both the beauty contests, not only the physical beauty of the contestants has been gauged, but also their intelligence, talents and social commitment have also been measured.
In both the contests, the winners have been selected by the judging panels comprised of several acclaimed personalities in the fashion and modelling industry such as Lakshmi Menon (model), Archana Ravi (actress-cum-model), Hari Anand (designer) and Dr. Sajimon Parayil (fashion businessman).
The traditional saree round and red gown round are the two main rounds in the Mrs South India. At the same time, the semi-final round and the final round are the two main rounds in the Miss Queen Kerala.
The online grooming session of both the contests began on 23rd September itself. The grooming has been handled by a team of experts in the industry.

The winners of both the contests have been crowned with the golden crowns designed by Parakkat Jewellers.
Miss Queen Kerala is actually an entry point or base point towards the competitive world of fashion and entertainment.
Winners of Miss Queen Kerala naturally win the golden opportunity to represent the state in several national and International beauty contests such as Miss South India, Miss Queen of India, Miss Asia and Miss Glam World.
Likewise, winners of Mrs South India win the opportunity to represent the region in several national and International beauty contests, such as Mrs India Global.
Manappuram Finance Limited and DQ are the main partner of the event, organised by SCAAS and Pegasus – which has around 20-year experience in the fashion industry. SAJ Earth Resort and Convention Center and Medimix are the powered by partners.

Due to the Covid-19 crisis, the regional title winners of each state were selected to participate in the contest – organised to provide a platform for exceptionally talented women from the southern region of the country.
Liya Elizabeth Joshy, Reema Nair, Aiswarya Lakshmi B, Elizabeth Kessya, Sreelakshmi C, Gauri B Nair, Shwetha Jayaram, Vibitha Vijayan, Meenakshi Unnikrishnan and Chandralekha Nath are the contestants of the Miss Queen Kerala 2020.
Notably, during the event, the organiser has strictly followed the Covid-19 protocol and directives, released by the authority to contain the spread of the Covid-19 outbreak.
Business Excellency Award and Excellence in Social Service Award have also been handed over during the function.
Business Excellency Award is an award conceptualised to recognise acclaimed business personals, who have carved a unique position in the world of business.
Shiny Justine (Business Excellency Award in Fitness), Dr. Reena Philp (Business Excellency Award in Cosmetology and Dental Care), Dr. Elizabeth Chacko (Business Excellency Award in Cosmetology and Beauty Care) are the winners of this year’s Business Excellency Award.
Excellence in Social Service Award is an award conceptualised to recognise exceptional Non-Government Organisations and people who have devoted their life to serve the poorest of poor.
HRDS INDIA, which is an acclaimed Non-Governmental Organisation, is the winner of this year’s Excellence in Social Service award.
On behalf of the organisation, Guru Atma Nambi, the spiritual guru of the organisation, has received the award.
The awards have been distributed by Shri Prakash C Sharma, the National Vice President of BJP Kisan Morcha, Shri S Asker Ali IAS, Collector – Union Territory of Lakshadeep & Secretaries to Sports and Youth Affairs and Dr Ajit Ravi, Chairman of Pegasus Trust.
It is a notable fact that Pegasus, which is known for its deep respect to the concept of women empowerment, is governed by two women.
