‘Middle class’.. This word connects with the audience immediately. Because there is a truth in everything about the hardships, dreams, tears, sorrows, bonds, responsibilities, hopes, ambitions, needs, and insults of a middle class person. ‘Solo Boy’ is a film made with the intention of touching the hearts of a normal middle class family who live comfortably and happily despite not having hopes of earning crores.
The film did not even cost as much as a big film would for its caravan.. We completed this film with just two and a half crores, said hero Gautham Krishna at the pre-release event. How is the film ‘Solo Boy’, which Gautham said was made with faith in the script and passion for the film? Let’s see if it was able to touch the middle class as it was said.
Middle Class Story
The story of Solo Boy begins with an engineering college freshers’ day. Krishnamurthy (Gautam Krishna) tells his middle class story to a college boy who is threatening his mother on the phone that he will not talk to him again unless she buys him a cart. The father (Posani Krishna Murali) surprises his son by making small jokes without him asking, the mother (Anita Chowdhury) believes that even if the whole world says that you are a failure, my son will rule the world. Solo Boy continues with small scenes like how much they believed in their son.. how much they loved him..
Krishnamurthy sees Priya (Ramya Pasuleti) for the first time on the first day of college and falls in love. If you cut to the cuts, both of them fall in love before the song is over.. They forget the world and enjoy themselves. Krishnamurthy, with great hope, asks Priya to get a job in college placement and get married. However, Priya insults him by saying that my driver’s salary is higher than yours and breaks up with him. Posani tells his son, who is addicted to drugs in the pain of the breakup, the story of his father and brings him back on track.
However, a girl named Shruti (Swetha Awasthi) enters the life of Krishnamurthy, who is working hard. Krishna falls in love with this girl and marries her. But an unexpected event (father’s death) turns Krishnamurthy’s life upside down. The girl he fell in love with and married sends him divorce notices. On one hand, his father’s death. On the other hand, his wife’s divorce. A huge debt on his head. How Krishnamurthy rose from such a situation to become a millionaire and a successful businessman is the rest of the story.
How is it?
This film has been made as a success story of a middle-class boy. How a college boy became a millionaire.. How hard he worked for that.. How much he worked day and night.. Everything like this is a very interesting topic for the viewers. However, the outcome of this story depends on how we deal with it. Because there have been many such stories. But they were careful not to show such shades in Solo Boy.
The main reason for this is that all the faces that appeared on the screen seemed very fresh. Ramya Pasupuleti, who appeared in the role of Priya in College Story, and Shweta Awasthi, who played Gautham’s wife, gave the audience a fresh feeling when they saw the three main leads on the screen. They tried to show every situation honestly on the screen, such as the sufferings, insults, debts, and the desire to achieve something in a middle-class family.
Gautham’s performance as Krishnamurthy, who first appears to be chilling in college life, then the pains of a breakup, love again and marriage, father’s death, debts, and from there becomes a millionaire without letting go, was impressive. The main reason why the audience liked Gautham so much in the Bigg Boss house is his honesty and character. Now Gautham has appeared equally honest in the role of Krishnamurthy. Without getting into unnecessary elevations and heroism anywhere.. Krishnamurthy got into the role. Even though it was his second film as a hero, Gautham improved a lot in his acting.
Similarly, the performances of Anita Chowdhury and Posani as Gautham’s parents were also perfect. They balanced these two characters without any excess or deficiency. The heroine Ramya looked cute on screen. Another heroine Shweta Awasthi impressed with her acting. Gautham impressed not only as a hero but also as a writer of this film.
Did that girl come to share your salary, not to share life? There are bad days in life.. but not all bad days.. Some dialogues like this exploded in the theater. The main strength of this movie is the music. Every song that appeared on the screen gave a good feeling to the audience. The BGM is also good. There are small flaws here and there in the writing and the story, but the climax is satisfying, so the audience who comes out of the theater feels that the movie was good. The problem of middlemen related to farmers is also mentioned in this story. However, instead of going completely into it, focusing on their story again saved the movie from being diverted.
As Gautham said, it is a really good effort to achieve such an output with two and a half crores. Rather than the situation of producers who make films with huge budgets, hundreds of crores, and end up in debt, but people do not come to the theaters, it is a welcome thing to see such films coming out with content that connects with the audience with a small budget.
