Kingston (Kingston) is a film produced, directed and produced by GV Prakash. The film hit the theatres on March 7. The movie is releasing with great hype in Tamil. The movie has also been dubbed in Telugu. GV Prakash has also come to Hyderabad for promotions. He is promoting the movie as much as possible. Will this film starring Divya Bharathi and GV Prakash impress the Telugu audience? Or not? Let’s see.

Story
King (GV Prakash) is from Tutuvur area. Tutuvur area is cursed by the sea. Whoever goes into the sea from that village comes back as a corpse. However, due to this, there is no employment for that village. Due to this, Antony (Sabuman) goes into hiding. King also works for him. At one point, King turns against him because he does not like the work Antony does there. Due to this, along with King, his entire village becomes jobless. What is the real curse on his village? What are the reasons behind the curse? Why do people who go to sea die? He wants to know these things? And what did King learn during this sea voyage? Did King and his group of friends return to the sea? Or not? What is the role of the heroine in this story? What is the importance of the characters of Charles, Salmon, and Bose? That is the story.

A village that is being ravaged by the curse of the sea.. People who are struggling without employment.. The hero who stands up for the people of that village.. is good up to the point. But after that, the real problem comes. The point seems to be good.. but the setup and emotions to match it are nowhere to be seen. Why is it that the hero does not know that Antony is a bad guy until then? Why does the hero who works for Antony.. suddenly change? Why does he threaten the villain? Until then, the villain shows that everyone is afraid of him? But why does the hero face it head on? It is difficult to find logic like this. If we put all the logic aside and watch the movie.. there are neither engaging scenes nor emotions that can captivate the audience.
From the first frame to the last shot of the film, it is repeatedly reminded that this is an Arava film.. a Tamil dubbed film. It is clearly visible in the case of dubbing as well. Mass elevations for the hero.. the hero’s entry song.. everything has been taken into account. But is the actual emotion connecting? Will the audience like it? They did not think about it. The track between the hero and the heroine, that love also feels artificial. There is no attempt to convey to the audience the point that the girls in the village are missing, but a setup has not been established.

The first half ends with the hero getting fixated on going to sea. Everyone understands that the entire second half will be adventurous. One boat.. four or five characters.. strange creatures that come in the middle. Are they ghosts? The only answer is that it is someone’s soul. Finally, it is understood that it is someone’s soul. None of the scenes there are really that exciting. However, the twists in the pre-climax and climax regarding the flashback episodes are good.

When it comes to actors… GV Prakash easily plays such raw and rustic roles. He also gets a makeover according to the role. In this film, GV Prakash’s acting and looks are all the same as in an Arava film. GV impresses in the action sequences too. Divya Bharati has less screen space… and less importance. He made the role of Antony seem like he was taken away too much in the second half. Many characters like Salman, Bose, Charles have good importance. The hero’s friend gang is also pleasing. All the characters seem okay.

Technically, this movie has the potential to impress. The visuals, camera work, and GV RR are impressive. The entire VFX of the second half is good. The boat, the sea, and the scenes shown there are good. And the cameraman scares with his shots and angles. The audience will be scared with GV RR as well. Thus, technically, Kingston’s movie has a high chance of impressing. It should connect with people from all regions and cultivate all emotions.. The movie will not connect with everyone. But this Kingston has been made only with Tamil nativity. This may not be to the liking of our Telugu audience. The dubbing, looks, setup, etc., have a touch of Arava in everything. And we have to wait and see what kind of results the audience will give to this movie in Telugu.
