Young Hero Sharwanand recently joined hands with director Sudheer Varma and came up with a mass action entertainer titled as ‘Ranarangam’. Kajal Agarwal and Kalyani Priyadarshan played the female leads in this movie which recently hit the theatres on 15th August 2019 on the occasion of Independence Day. Despite getting released amid decent expectations, the movie has been receiving mixed response from the audience. During the promotions of the movie, Sharwanand has recently talked about the outcome of the film. Here are some excerpts:
What is your opinion on the response you got from the film?
I think I got good response for the film. But we haven’t got what we expected. We thought that the movie will become a big hit but if the reviews came out positively then the movie would have become a hit.
Reason you accepted this project.
I accepted the movie because I have really liked the screenplay. Also, I really like Sudheer Varma’s taking in his previous movies. I thought it would be different from the regular love and family entertainers.
Reason behind the mixed response for the film.
We thought of making a stylish film based on screenplay but the results got negative. No one has ever told me that the movie is bad. I can say that the audience review is far different than the reviews. So, if the reviews are good then the movie would have made decent collections.
Are you blaming the movie reviews?
Not like that. So many wrote that the movie doesn’t have a proper story. It is only partly true because ‘Ranarangam’ is not a story based film but it is a screenplay based movie.
Your future projects..
The shooting of ’96’ remake is 50% completed. I am also doing a story based movie called ‘Srikaram’ and I have recently signed a bilingual movie which will be releasing in Telugu and Tamil languages.
